Imation DryView Laser Imagers to be Component of Hewlett Packard's New Multispecialty Ultrasound Demonstration Systems

OAKDALE, Minn. - (March 24, 1997) - Imation Corp. (NYSE: IMN), the imaging and information company recently spun off by 3M, today announced that it will provide Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) with Imation™ DryView™ 8300 Laser Imagers for use in demonstrating the new HP ImagePoint ultrasound systems to hospitals nationwide.

"We're pleased that Hewlett-Packard, a world leader in innovative technology, has selected our Imation DryView 8300 Laser Imagers for its hospital ultrasound demonstrations," said Dan Torborg, market development manager, Imation. "Imation's participation in the demonstrations is indicative of our commitment to collaborate with industry leaders to bring innovative, integrated customer solutions to market quickly and cost-effectively. The Imation DryView 8300 Laser Imager, like the HP ImagePoint, is a high-performance system. Combining them could very well revolutionize the way radiology departments perform ultrasound imaging."

"The Imation DryView Laser Imagers consistently showcase the high-quality image performance of HP's ImagePoint system," said David Kolstad, manager, product marketing for general imaging, HP's Imaging Systems Division. "In addition, the DryView Laser Imagers stand up to the rigors of the medical products demonstration environment, where systems are constantly moving in and out of hospitals sites. They are an integral component of the ImagePoint demonstration process."

A desktop dry laser imager that delivers diagnostic-quality film images and high film throughput for the 8" x 10" market, the Imation DryView 8300 Laser Imager represents the next generation of DryView Laser Imagers.

"The DryView 8300 Laser Imager will not only eliminate wet chemistry film processing, but we believe it will also provide the diagnostic-quality films and cost-effective throughput that HP seeks to complement its ImagePoint system," Torborg said.

Imation's DryView Laser Imaging Technology has been rapidly adopted by radiology departments worldwide since its November 1995 introduction. The 3M™ DryView™ 8700 Laser Imager, now by Imation™, is currently the best selling 14" x 17" laser imager in the world-wet or dry.
